Perhaps your vision for your future healthy self is different from where you are right now, you are seeking to make change now that will provide you with sustainable success.
The fact is, most of us can identify areas of our daily lives that we can improve upon in the health department. Maybe it's walking more and sitting less, drinking less soda and more water, eating less sugar and more vegetables. We identify that we want to make a change.
If change is truly what you seek, then it is you who must make a choice to execute your daily habits differently.
In short, change starts with a choice.
Change starts with a choice, and flourishes when your actions consistently reflect that choice.
Success occurs when your choice becomes an action, and that action occurs more often than it does not.
Self awareness and mindfulness is the key to success in any area of life - especially nutrition. If you don't know where you are going wrong, how will you know what to correct?
As part of the 21 day challenge, I provide daily challenges for the participants, such as "do not exceed your fat macros target today" or
"come within 15g of your protein target today" or
"drink the proper amount of water for your body"
Each day the participants earn a point for completing the task, and check in with me with what was easy, and what was hard for them.
The goal is not necessarily perfection here, the goal is to build self awareness.
If during the first week you are consistently not hitting your water target... now you know - you can do better now that you are aware!
My vision for my group of nutrition clients is small daily doses of information, that can be put into action right away to gain a better awareness of their personal nutrition; where they succeed and where they stumble. To make corrections as necessary to see how change allows you to feel, perform and look better.
Here are some high level statements that I found very useful for feedback, and will no doubt contribute to the personal growth and self awareness of these individuals:
"Finding it hard to drink the right amount of water. Prior to the challenge, I would have said that I drink lots of water each day. Apparently I don't! Honest tracking really tells the story!"
"Today took a lot more planning, making me realize that hitting my goals doesn't come easy!"
"Understand that's not healthy or sustainable for a number of reasons. I need to work on finding options that work for me for the long term. While I met the challenge, I think I still need to work on awareness in this area."
